TOYOTA RECALL ►Breaking News! On July 21, 2010, Toyota publicly announced it would recall approximately 2.3 million vehicles equipped with faulty accelerator pedals. On Investigations reveal that under certain conditions, the Toyota accelerator pedal may mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position, causing the vehicle to accelerate independent of the driver's command. On February 4, 2010, only hours after acknowledging that there is a design flaw in the brakes with some Prius hybrids, Toyoa is recalling 270,000 of the vehicles in the U.S. and Japan. The Prius recall will involve the third-generation Prius launched in May. The National HIghway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA), has also launched an investigation into the Prius brakes, which reportedly temporarily stop working on bumpy or slippery roads. NHTSA said today that it has received 124 reports from consumers about the Prius brakes, including four reports of crashes.
