The Sterling Mansion

4515 Yoakum Boulevard

Houston, Texas 77006

The Sterling Mansion was built between 1914 and 1917 by Texas Governor Ross Shaw Sterling where he lived with his wife and their five children until 1926. Governor Sterling was one of the founders of Humble Oil and Refining Company in 1917 (now known as Exxon), and served as Governor of Texas from 1931-1933. In 1983 the building was entered in the National Register of Historic Places.

The style of the mansion is an abstract art-nouveau rendition of classical details boasting a signature cartouche which appears above the front steps. Several prominent families occupied the Sterling Mansion as a residence until 1987, when a Houston attorney converted the house to a law office. The Law Office of Howard Nations purchased the mansion in 1998 and is continuing with the restoration and the preservation

The Evening Star Building
1101 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20004

The Evening Star Building is situated between the U.S. Capitol and the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Prominent law firms and Fortune 500 Companies seek this location for convenient access to downtown Washington, DC. The Evening Star is a trophy-class building listed in the National Register as a Historic Landmark. Unique to the Evening Star Building, and unattainable today, is its mere 25-foot setback from Pennsylvania Avenue. By comparison, modern standards have kept newer structures at three times this distance.

The white marble beaux arts-inspired classical revival architecture represents unprecedented style in building design at the time of its construction and official dedication in 1900.  Over a century later, the Evening Star Building, along with the old Post Office across the street, serves as an architectural gateway to the prestigious Pennsylvania Avenue. The Evening Star, was a daily afternoon newspaper, which later became the Washington Star-News, then Washington Post.

Rockefeller Center

1230 Avenue of the Americas

New York City, New York

Rockefeller Center in central Manhattan, New York City, is located between prestigious Fifth Ave. and the Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Ave.) and 48th and 51st streets. The project was started by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who originally leased the land from Columbia University. The centerpiece of Rockefeller Center is the famed 70-floor General Electric Building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, also known as "30 Rock” and Radio City Music Hall.

The complex houses premiere law firms, as well as, business, finance, media, publishing and broadcasting industries. Highly recognizable adorning the sunken plaza and ice skating rink, is the bronze statue of Greek legend, Titan Prometheus recumbent, bringing fire to mankind.
