Covidien Hernia Mesh Trial Set

Trial of a Mississippi woman implanted with a Covidien Symbotex patch and suffered severe and permanent injuries is set for July 2026 in the Covidien MDL (multidistrict litigation). The first trial against Covidien for defective hernia mesh will begin in February 2026.

Almost 1,700 claims have been filed against Covidien by  patients that claim injuries from the mesh implants. The cases will be tried before U.S. District Judge Patti B. Saris in the District of Massachusetts and are undergoing coordinated discovery and pretrial proceedings. The trial schedule docketed to date:

  1. February 17, 2026: Larry and Tammy Patterson of Alabama (Symbotex hernia mesh)
